MEN'S BASKETBALL DEFEATS NYIT, 88-81 BEHIND WILLIAMS'

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Bryant University senior guard John Williams
scored 21 points while junior Chris Burns and freshman Nick Pontes
each added 16 as the Bulldog men's basketball team improved to 3-0
on the season with an 88-81 win over New York Institute of
Technology Sunday at the University of Bridgeport Purple Knight
Classic. Bryant will travel to AIC on Tuesday night for the
Northeast-10 Conference opener.
After blistering the nets with 16 three's against Bridgeport on
Saturday, the Bulldogs continued their hot-shooting ways with 11
more three-pointers and shot 63.0 percent from the floor in the
game. Williams, Burns, and Jon Ezeokoli each had three
3-point field goals.
The Bulldogs led by 17 at the half, 49-32 and withstood six
second half three's from the Bears to pull out the win. Dan Hammond
had another big night with six assists and six rebounds while
Williams handed out five assists in the game.
Daniel Cox was among five players scoring in double figures for
NYIT as the forward finished with a team-high 19 points.
