Men's Basketball Edged by Saint Rose, 64-62
ALBANY, NY - The Bryant University
Bulldogs traveled to Saint Rose on Sunday, November 27th for a
Northeast-10 battle with the Golden Knights. Saint Rose won
the game, 64-62 improving to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the
Northeast-10. The Bulldogs, after a loss at AIC on Tuesday night,
drop their second-straight Northeast-10 game by two points
and fall to 3-2 overall this season (0-2 NE-10).
Bryant took a seven point lead into the locker room at the half by
the score of 37-30. Chris Burns made 3 of
5 three-point attempts and led Bryant with nine points at the
break. A total of nine different Bulldogs tallied at least one
bucket as the Bulldogs finished the first half shooting 59%
from the field. Sophomore Shanty Robinson led the Golden Knights in
the first half with 10 points on a perfect 5 for 5
shooting from the floor.
Saint Rose came out of the locker room with a fury, scoring 12
unanswered points to take a 42-37 lead just two and half minutes
into the second half. Golden Knights senior standout Brad
Shove helped spurt the run with eight-straight points on his
own. However, the Bulldogs would come back and tie the
game later at 44-44.
The second half would continue with back and forth action including
seven ties and nine lead changes. Saint Rose led 60-56 before the
Bulldogs tied the game at 60-60 with two minutes remaining. Will
Monica gave the Golden Knights a 62-60 lead with his first and only
basket of the game with a minute and a half remaining. Robinson
added another basket to make extend the Saint Rose lead to four and
the Knights would hold on from there.
Robinson finished the game a perfect 7-for-7 shooting in the game
for 14 points. John Williams led the Bulldogs in
scoring with 13 while junior Dan Hammond added
10.
The Bulldogs will host Pace on Wednesday, November 30th at the
Chace Athletic Center with a tip time of 7:30pm.
