Box Score

SMITHFIELD, R.I. --- Joanna Skiba (Providence, RI / Classical) scored 20 points while senior Shannon Perry (Providence, RI/ La Salle) recorded a double-double in her Bryant debut, scoring 13 points and grabbing 13 rebounds in leading the Bulldogs to a 65-46 win over St. Thomas Aquinas in the first game of the 2005 Bryant Comfort Suites Holiday Tournament at the Chace Athletic Center.

Bryant led 29-24 at the half and pulled ahead, 40-30 thanks to a Perry put-back after a Bryant miss with 13:35 left.  The Spartans would pull to within 42-39 after a Raven Brinkley pull up from the top of the key with just over 10:30 remaining, but Bryant would close out the game with a 22-6 run to improve its record to 4-5 overall on the season.

Perry, a transfer from Syracuse University and graduate of La Salle Academy in Providence was 5 of 12 from the floor and dished out four assists in 25 minutes of action.  Skiba was 5 of 19 from the floor and 4-for-7 from three-point range.

St. Thomas Aquinas (3-6) was led by Kayla Waite's 12 points while Takiyah Ingram had 11 points and five rebounds for the Spartans who shot just 27.4 percent from the floor and turned the ball over 21 times in the game.    Bryant, which got 8 points and 11 rebounds from Lauren Rubenoff (New Hartford, Conn.) and Megan Peper (Castleton, NY), shot 35.0 percent from the floor and picked up 14 steals in the game.

Bryant will close out the Comfort Suites Holiday Tournament Thursday, facing Southern New Hampshire at 3 pm.  St. Thomas Aquinas will take on American International at 1 pm.
