COLCHESTER, VT. – Mario Correia, the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week, scored 22 points while guard John Williams added 19 to help lead the Bryant University men's basketball team to a 96-64 win over Saint Michael's Wednesday. The win is the 11-straight for Bryant heading into Saturday's showdown at No. 5 Bentley.
Bryant (18-6, 14-6 NE-10) shot a sizzling 60 percent from the floor in the game and made nine 3-pointers with John Williams (left) accounting for five of those three's in the game. The junior was 5-for-8 from long range and finished with four assists and three steals.
Mike Williams had 16 points and 10 rebounds in the game as the senior center was a perfect 6-for-6 from the floor shooting to go with a pair of blocks.
Saint Michael's (7-18, 4-16 NE-10), was led by Brian Monahan's 17 points as the Purple Knights shot 40.3 percent from the floor. Freshman James Sorrentine of Pawtucket, RI was held to three points including one three pointer in seven tries. Sorrentine came into the game leading the Purple Knights with 15.3 ppg.
Bryant, ranked No. 5 in the NCAA Northeast Region this week, will visit the region's top team, Bentley, Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Waltham, Mass. Bentley has dropped two in-a-row since earning the nation's No. 1 ranking. The Falcons fell to UMass Lowell Wednesday night.
Bentley defeated Bryant 76-69 in Smithfield, RI back on Jan. 6.
