NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Kellie Fournier posted a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds but it was not enough to get past second-seeded Southern Connecticut as the Owls rallied from a halftime deficit to post a 59-53 win Monday and earn a spot in the conference semifinals. Bryant will await word on a possible NCAA tournament at-large berth this Sunday night at 10 p.m.
Bryant (18-11) came out strong early, taking a 17-7 lead following a three-pointer from Jessie Weber with 11:37 left. But a Kristi Stolle three with two minutes left in the first half helped pull Southern Connecticut back to within four, 24-20 as the host Owls went to the locker room trailing the Bulldogs 26-22 at the break.
In the second half, Southern Connecticut (24-4), finally took the lead on a layup by Stolle to make it 39-37 with 13 minutes left in regulation. The Bulldogs would hang tough, as a free throw by Fournier helped tie the game at 48-48 with just over five minutes left. But an Anabelle Perdomo basket on Southern's next possession gave the hosts the lead for good.
Stolle scored a career-high 21 points for Southern Connecticut while Lindsay Hermann had nine points and 10 rebounds for Bryant.
