BRYANT'S DEIDRE KITTREDGE NAMED NORTHEST-10
SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR FOR 2005
SOUTH EASTON, Mass. - Bryant University senior third
baseman Deidre Kittredge (Worcester,
Mass. / St.
Peter Marian) has been named the Northeast-10
Conference Softball Player of the Year as voted on by the 15
conference head coaches.
Kittredge helped lead Bryant to a 25-15 overall regular season
record including a 22-6 conference mark, good for third place in
the Northeast-10 Conference standings. She led the Bulldogs
with a .421 batting average, 37 runs batted in, 13 doubles, four
home runs, and 85 total bases. She is the first Bryant
position player to win a softball conference major award.
Bryant coach Lisa-Ann Wallace won coach of the
year honors in 2002.
Bryant also placed a total of eight players on the Northeast-10
All-Conference teams for 2005, including three earning first team
honors. Joining Kittredge on the first team this spring, was
senior Carly Muise
(Hanson,
Mass.) and sophomore
Lindsay Connor (West
Haven,
Conn.). Muise hit .333
during the regular season with four doubles and two triples.
Connor was second on the team and in the conference with a .417
batting average and led the Northeast-10 with 59 hits and was
fourth with 31 runs scored.
Junior catcher Jordan Dargon
(Trumbull,
Conn.), sophomore outfielder
Briana Durborow
(Ringoes,
N.J.), and senior pitcher
Diane Cummings
(Westwood,
Mass.) were all named second team
all-conference by the Northeast-10.
Earning third team all-conference honors were sophomore shortstop
Amanda Wilbur
(Lakeville,
Mass.) and sophomore outfielder
Amanda Gagne
(Wilbraham,
Mass.).
Bryant, ranked No. 5 in the latest NCAA Regional Poll, is currently
participating in the Northeast-10 Conference tournament this
weekend in Syracuse, N.Y.
