Smithfield, RI - The Bryant University women's basketball
team welcomed the Golden Knights of Saint Rose to the Chace
Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon for a Northeast-10 conference
tilt. The Bulldogs fell to the Golden Knights in a back and forth
game 72-69. Saint Rose improves to 12-6 and 8-5 in the NE-10.
Bryant drops to 3-14 overall and 0-10 in conference play. Lauren
Rubenoff (New Hartford, CT) had a career day with 12 rebounds
(one shy of career high) and tied a career
high with 14 points. Junior Joanna Skiba (Providence, RI) led four
Bulldogs in double-figures with a game high 23 points including
8-10 from the free throw line. Lynne- Ann Kokoski (Hatfield, MA)
and Megan Peper (Castelton, NY) were also in double figures each
scoring 11 points.
The Bulldogs led for almost three-quarters of
the game until a Courtney Ludwig (Shaftsbury, VT) three-pointer
gave Saint Rose their first lead. Ludwig finished the game with a
Saint Rose high of 16 points with all of her baskets coming via the
three-pointer.
The game would continue to go back and forth down the stretch
with the lead changing seven times. A couple of buckets by Ashley
Anderson (Portland, ME) and free throws down the stretch gave the
Golden Knights a three point lead that they would not relinquish in
the last two minutes of the game. Anderson finished in double
figures with 12 points. Bryant University will travel to Pace on
Tuesday with a tip time of 5:30pm.
