Bulldogs Defeat Bentley, 77-63 Thursday Evening
WALTHAM, MASS - John Williams scored 20 points while freshman
Nick Pontes added 16 points and six rebounds as the Bryant men's
basketball team won its fourth-straight game, 77-63 over Bentley
College Thursday evening at the Dana Center. The Bulldogs
(9-3) host Stonehill College Saturday at 3:30 pm.
The Bulldogs shot 53.3 percent from the floor and raced out to a
43-28 lead at the half. After opening the game tied 3-3 after
a three from Jon Ezeokoli and Bentley's Tim Forbes, the Bulldogs
led 32-15 after a bucket in the paint from Ryan McLean and led
34-15 after Jarrenn Wright scored on a putback from a missed
three-point attempt by Chris Burns.
The Bulldogs increased its lead to as much 59-36 with 14:36 left
to play following a pull-up jumper in the lane by John Williams and
the Bulldogs cruised from there.
Williams was 8-for-13 from the floor in the game and dished out
two assists. Ezeokoli finished with 11 points and grabbed
seven rebounds while Wright and Nathaniel Sudlow each added eight
for Bryant.
Bentley (6-6, 3-4 NE-10) was led by Tim Forbes' 20 points while
Nate Fritsch added 14 points and five rebounds. Sean Cooke
came into the game averaging 15 ppg this season but was held to
just five in the game on 2-of-7 shooting from the floor.
