Bryant Women Defeat Saint Anselm 63-48
SMITHFIELD, RI - Bryant
freshman Kelsey O'Keefe (Warren, Mass.) scored 19 points and
grabbed 9 rebounds to help lead the Bulldogs to a 63-48 win over
visiting Saint Anselm College Tuesday night. The game served
as the Northeast-10 Conference opener for both schools as Bryant
improves its record to 3-0 on the young season.
The Bulldogs used a 17-2 run in the final four minutes to break
open a close game. The Bulldogs trailed 32-31 at the half but
battled back, taking a 39-36 lead on a bucket inside by
O'Keefe.
A Cara Johnson three with 3:40 remaining helped trigger the
Bryant run as O'Keefe would follow with a spin move in the lane for
a pair and Johnson scored on a fast break following a Hawk turnover
seconds later to give the Bulldogs a commanding 61-45 lead.
Bryant shot 32.4 percent from the floor and made just 5 of 23
three-point field goals. Joanna Skiba had 12 assists and two
steals while senior Lauren Rubenoff had 12 points.
Jessica Morgan led all scorers for Saint Anselm with 21 points
and 13 rebounds.
Bryant (3-0, 1-0 NE-10) will travel to Franklin Pierce on Sunday at
1:30 p.m.
