Four Bulldogs score in double figures as Bryant defeats Le
Moyne 83-76
Smithfield, RI - The Bryant University
women's basketball team has now won three out of their last
four games with their latest coming Tuesday night over Le Moyne.
Bryant used an 11-0 run in the last five minutes to go ahead of Le
Moyne and earn the 83-76 victory. The Bulldogs improve to 6-17
overall and 3-15 in the Northeast-10 Conference. The Dolphins drop
to 11-12 overall and 7-11 in conference play.
The first half was close but Le Moyne led the entire time and
headed to the locker room with a 38-33 lead. The Bulldogs would get
their first lead of the game at 14:51 in the second half on a
jumper from junior Lauren Rubenoff (New
Hartford,
CT). Le Moyne would come right
back and take a 50-46 lead until junior Joanna Skiba
(Providence,
RI) knocked down a deep three and
was fouled. She completed the four point play and brought the
Bulldogs even again.
The Bulldogs would go on an 11-0 run with only a couple of minutes
remaining and took a 75-67 lead. Bryant did not look back and
earned the 83-76 win. Senior forward Shannon Perry
(Providence,
RI) had another solid game
scoring 19 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Skiba finished with
a career-tying 26 points on 8-10 shooting including 5-7 from
three-point land and a perfect 5-5 from the charity stripe. She
also added eight assists with just two turnovers.
Le Moyne shot 58.7% from the floor, 37.5 from beyond the arc, and
only missed one free throw in the seven point loss. The Dolphins
also had four players in double figures with Kim Wagoner leading
the way scoring 26 points on 9-13 shooting. Kathleen Gladstone had
16 points on 8-11 shooting with four rebounds and five assists.
Bryant University will travel to Saint Anselm on Saturday, February
11 with a tip time of 1:30pm.
