BRYANT SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH NO.16 CALDWELL
SUNDAY
SMITHFIELD, RI - After dropping the opener 3-2, the Bryant
University softball team came back strong to win the second, 10-2
in five innings to earn a non-conference split with 16th-ranked
Caldwell College Sunday afternoon.
In the opener, Caldwell, the preseason favorite in the CACC
Conference, scored two runs in the top of the first and added a
single run in the third as the visiting Cougars defeated Bryant,
3-2. Jennifer Bernier took the loss for the Bulldogs who
rallied a run in the third and later in the sixth but could not get
the tying run across in the seventh. Jordan Dargon doubled home
Lindsey Connor for Bryant's first run in the third.
In the second game, the Bulldogs fell behind 2-0 in the third
but came back to score nine runs in the bottom of the third to
break the game wide open. Connor helped key the run with a
double to right while Amanda Gagne followed with a two-run single.
Janine Enos picked up the win, allowing just two runs on six
hits while striking out five. Bryant will host Assumption for a
Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader Wednesday.
