Stonehill Rallies Past Bulldogs

RI - The Bryant University baseball team welcomed
Northeast-10 opponent Stonehill to the Bryant Baseball Complex on
Thursday afternoon for a non-conference game. Stonehill would win
the game 5-4 behind two runs in the top of the ninth. The Skyhawks
improve to 16-11 overall while the Bulldogs drop to 10-25 overall.
The Bulldogs struck first in the bottom of the second scoring on
a bases loaded walk. The Skyhawks would tie the game in the top of
the fourth when senior Coley Lyons (West
Roxbury, MA) led off with a double. Lyons
finished 2-4 with two RBI's and a run scored. The game would then
be delayed 47 minutes after the completion of four innings due to
lightning
When play resumed the Bulldogs struck for three runs in the
bottom of the seventh giving them a 4-2 lead. Senior Nick
Tucarella (Salem, NH) got the rally started with a single
to left and was followed by a double from Brian Cleary (W.
Boylston, MA). Tucarella finished 2-4 with a run while
Cleary also finished with two hits going 2-3 with and RBI and a run
scored.
Stonehill would regain the lead in the top of the ninth scoring
two runs taking a 5-4 lead on three consecutive hits. Junior
Matt Vaughn (Bow, NH) led off the inning with a
double and came around to score on a Lyons triple. Junior
Chris Hermann
(Chelmsford,
MA) would pitch a perfect bottom
of the ninth giving him and Stonehill the 5-4 victory.
The next game for Bryant is on Monday, April 17 when they will
travel to Assumption with a start time of 3:30 pm.
