BRYANT'S SOLOMON NAMED NORTHEAST-10
WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF YEAR
Six Named All-Conference
SMITHFIELD, RI
- The Bryant University women's tennis team placed
six players on the
2006 Northeast-10 Conference Women's Tennis All-Conference team
the conference announced today. Leading the way once again
was junior Sacha Solomon (Bourne,
Mass.) who was named the NE-10
Vern Cox Player of the Year for the third-straight season.
Solomon, a first team all-conference selection for the third year
in-a-row, posted a perfect 12-0 record in conference play once
again this year at No. 1 singles for the Bulldogs - entering
Saturday's conference semifinal match with Bentley.
Solomon was joined on the conference
first team by teammates Alex Spence
(Lynnfield,
Mass.) and Annette
Jervasi (Colchester,
Conn.). Spence was 12-0 at
No. 2 singles this year (12-2 overall) and also received the
conference's F. Paul Bogan Memorial Sportsmanship
Award. Jervasi, a junior, was 12-1 in conference play
at No. 3 singles for the Bulldogs.
Senior Alanna Santanello
(North Providence,
RI) and sophomore
Michelle Burke
(Barrington,
RI) were named second team
all-conference by the NE-10 while sophomore Lauren Mullen
(Braintree,
Mass.) too home third team
all-conference honors.
The Bulldogs also snapped up three
doubles honors as the tandem of Spence and Santanello joined the
doubles team of Mullen and Burke on the conference's first team
doubles team. The No. 1 doubles team of Solomon and Jervasi
were named to the conference's second team all-conference doubles
for 2006.
