BRYANT VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO NEW HAVEN 3-1 IN NONCONFERENCE

WEST HAVEN, Conn. - Bryant University senior Jess Cegarra
(Danville, NH) racked up 24 kills and hit .474 offensively but it
was enough to overcome the University of New Haven as the Chargers
earned a 3-1 non-conference win over the Bulldogs Thursday
night.

The Bulldogs opened with a thrilling 32-30 win in the
opening game, thanks to the play of Cegarra. The senior middle
notched seven kills on 10 swings in the opener while junior Likica
Grceva (Natick, Mass.) added five kills for the Bulldogs.
New Haven would bounce back to win a crucial second game, 31-29
to even the match at 1-1, despite strong play at the net by the
Bulldogs. Bryant out-blocked the Chargers 4 to 0 at the net
but UNH got four kills from Helena Castro to lead the way.
The Chargers would bounce back strong and ride the momentum from
the win to capture game three, 30-23, and game four 30-22 to
improve to 13-5 on the season.
Grceva finished with 10 kills and added six digs while junior
setter Tiffany Garry (Frankfort, IL) had 45 assists to go with four
service aces and nine digs. Freshman Morgan Wood (Cedar Park,
TX) had 11 kills and led the team with four total blocks on the
day. Bryant hit .183 and finished the match with seven aces.
Bryant (12-10) will travel to Saint Michael's Friday night for a
Northeast-10 Conference game.
