BRYANT WOMEN'S TENNIS PICKS UP 6-3 WIN AT STONEHILL SATURDAY

Valeria Couto Cuervo was a winner at No. 5 singles Saturday against Stonehill.

EASTON, MA -  The Bryant University women's tennis team won their 15th match of the season Saturday afternoon, defeating Stonehill College 6-3 in a match that took five and half hours to complete.  The Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead after doubles play with Emma Czarnecki (Huntington Woods, MI) and Chelsea Downing (Cherry Hills, CO) picking up an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles. 

In singles play, the Bulldogs came away with the win with strong play at No. 3 through No. 6 singles as senior Michelle Burke (Barrington, RI) downed Samantha Dircks in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.  Katharine Francazio (Cranston, RI) was winner over Elise Clark at No. 4 singles (6-2, 6-1).  Valeria Couto Cuervo (Guaynabo, P.R.) was winner at No. 5.

Bryant moves to 16-3 overall and stays atop the Northeast-10 Conference standings at 10-0 heading into Sunday's match at Assumption College.
