Game of Season after Rallying For Win in Game One at St. Rose

2008 Game 1 Box / Game 2 Box
Albany, NY - Senior Janine Enos (Wareham,
Mass.) captured her twelfth victory of the year and
continued her stellar pitching in game one at St. Rose Saturday
3-1. The Golden Knights were able to fight back in game two,
emerging in the ninth inning to capture a 1-0 win.
Junior Anne Dobmeier (Buffalo, NY) knocked
ahead the go-ahead runs with a two-out single to cap a three run
Bulldogs' seventh in game one. The Bulldogs had been held in check
by Knights' starter Kristen Calahan until the seventh. But a
Stephanie Mirando (North Haven, CT) double to open
the frame set the table for the Bulldogs' rally. Mirando was driven
in by Ali Chouinard (Swansea, Mass.) to open the
scoring for the Bulldogs. Chouinard was on base three times (two
walks) for the Bulldogs on the afternoon.
Enos (12-3) was magnificent in the circle again. The senior
struck out four in seven full innings, only surrendering three hits
and one unearned run. Enos tossed her first career no-hitter on
Thursday and has three wins and two saves this week.
Game two was a tense pitchers duel between Bulldog starter
Samantha Houseal (Mount Joy, PA) and Tracy
Chesebrough. Chesebrough went nine scoreless innings, striking out
13 and scattered two hits.
Houseal (8-5) took the tough luck loss when Lauren Ruggeiro
singled in Amanda Morano with the winning run in the bottom of the
ninth. Morano reached on a walk and advanced to third on an error
by Dobmeier before scoring on the single.
Houseal allowed just four hits in 8 innings and allowed just the
one unearned run. Bulldog pitchers combined for just two unearned
runs allowed in 15.0 innings. The Bulldogs will return to action
tomorrow at Le Moyne. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at
12pm.
