BRYANT WOMEN'S TENNIS DEFEATS DOWLING 8-1 IN
NON-CONFERENCE ACTION SATURDAY
SMITHFIELD, RI - The Bryant University women's tennis team
raised its record to 19-2 overall following an 8-1 win over Dowling
College Saturday afternoon at the Bryant Tennis Courts. The
Bulldogs, winners of 11 in-a-row, will wrap up the regular season
with a home match vs. Queens Monday before opening Northeast-10
Conference tournament play next week. First round action begins
Tuesday.
Against Dowling Saturday, the Bulldogs opened with wins in all
three doubles matches and followed with five more wins in singles
play. Emma Czarnecki defeated Cristina Hoffman at No. 1, 6-1,
6-0 while Chelsea Downing posted a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2. The
lone point for Dowling came at No. 3 singles where Diane Kobasiuk
defeated Bryant's Michelle Burke in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0.
