SMITHFIELD, RI -- The Bryant University softball team
topped visiting Southern New Hampshire twice in Thursday's
doubleheader, highlighted by a Game 1 victory from senior hurler
Janine Enos (Wareham, Mass.) to break a
Bryant school record for wins in a career.
The victory was Enos' 41st in a Bulldog uniform which passed
Nicole Keene (Class of 2004) for tops on the all-time list. Enos
(6-3) went seven, striking out five in the 8-2 Bulldog victory.
Jennifer Serrano (Stoneham,
Mass.) led the Bulldogs (10-6, 8-0) at the plate,
going 2-for-4 in Game One with a run scored and two RBI. Reigning
NE-10 Player of the Week Kate Thomas (Bedford, NH) drove in three
of the Bulldog runs
Game Two saw the Penmen (3-8, 0-4) keep the Bulldogs off the
board through four before Alex Pearson (North Dighton,
Mass.) ripped a 2-RBI pinch-hit double off Mary
Bradford that plated Regi Burdo (Wayne, PA)
and Ashley Coon (Levittown, PA). Burdo would score
a team-high three runs on the day.
A Kim Breton (Leominster, Mass.) single scored
Stephanie Mirando (North Haven, CT) with an
insurance run for the Bulldogs as freshman Samantha Houseal
(Mount Joy, PA) recorded her fourth win of the
year. Houseal (4-3) went 7 innings allowing just 1 run
and struck out a career-high six batters.
After ten straight games at the BryantSoftball Complex in which
the Bulldogs were 8-2, the Bulldogs will hit the road for games at
Adelphi on Saturday and American International Sunday. The Bulldogs
will play their next home games with Stonehill next Thursday.
Bryant elmininated Adelphi from the NCAA Tournament last year.
