BULLDOGS TOPPLE QUINNIPIAC, 3-0, IN
FRIDAY'S BROWN TOURNAMENT OPENER

PROVIDENCE - Behind a 16-kill, 11-dig double-double from
freshman Hilary Andrews (Tipp City, Ohio), the
Bryant University volleyball team earned its ninth win of the 2008
season, 3-0, over Quinnipiac University in Friday's opening game of
the Brown Tournament.
The Bulldogs (9-3) won the first set handily, 25-13, but fell
behind in the second and third, coming back from five and seven
points to win in three-straight sets. Bryant won set two, 25-23,
while needing extra points to take the match-clincher, 26-24.
Andrew's 16 kills led the Bulldogs, while fellow rookie
Maria Scocca (Melrose, Mass.) chipped in six kills
and a pair of service aces. Senior co-captain Delia Glover
(Marston Mills, Mass.) also had a big day, particularly in
the final set.
The Bobcats were led by 11 kills by Kelby Carey, while the loss
drops Quinnipiac to 1-11 overall.
Bryant continues with Brown Tournament competition Saturday,
Sept. 20, when the Bulldogs face off against Stony Brook University
at 1 p.m. and host Brown in the 7 p.m. nightcap.
