MEN'S TENNIS COMPETES AT STONY BROOK INVITATIONAL
COMPLETE
RESULTS
STONY BROOK, NY - The Bryant University men's tennis team took
part in the inaugural Stony Brook Invitational on Long
Island. The Bulldogs got wins from Nicholai
Hill in singles play and doubles wins from Hill and
Dan Cournoyer in Flight B and Flight A doubles by
Cristian Balestrieri and Juan Martin
Paredes.
Competing in singles Flight B, Hill defeated Pedro Munoz of
Dowling, 8-1 in his opening match but fell to the top seed, Jon
Epstein of Stony Brook, 6-2, 6-0 in the quarterfinals.
Paredes fell to Andrew Thompson of Middlebury in the first round
of Flight A singles while Balestrieri fell to Andrev Boldarev of
Concordia, the No. 2 seed, by a score of 8-2. Also in Flight
B, Kevin Gardner fell to second-seeded Raphael
Naminas of Concordia, 8-3.
The doubles team of Balestrieri and Paredes defeated Minami and
Hiraoka of Queens 8-3 in the first round but fell to Gruben and
Boldarev of Concordia in the quarters. Hill and Cournoyer had
a opening day as the duo opened with a win over Dowling and
followed with a thrilling 9-8 win over Middlebury's Lunghino and
Parower thanks to an 8-6 win in the tiebreak.
The pair fell to Peters and Angie of Middlebury Sunday in the
semifinals.
