WOMEN'S BASKETBALL HOSTS LAFAYETTE SATURDAY AT 1 PM

The Bulldogs return to action this Saturday afternoon hosting
Lafayette College in a non-conference game looking to bounce back
from a loss Wednesday night in the home opener. This will be the
second-straight Patriot League opponent for the Bulldogs who fell
to Holy Cross 57-45 despite a double-double effort from junior
Siamone Bennett. Lafayette will also be looking to get back
in the win column on Saturday. The Leopards fell to Fairfield
52-29 in Fairfield,Conn. on Wednesday evening. Today's game will be
the second of three-straight at home as the Bulldogs will host
Brown University this Tuesday before heading out for a three-game
road trip starting with a visit to upstate New York to face St.
Bonaventure next Sunday (Nov. 29).
HOLY CROSS COMES FROM BEHIND TO PICK UP 57-45
WIN
Bryant came out on fire in the first 10 minutes against Holy Cross
Wednesday night as the Bulldogs jumped out to a 10-0 lead behind
back-to-back three's by Kristin Mraz and held a 12-point advantage
with under 10 minutes left before the half. However a 19-6
run by the Crusaders gave the visitors a one-point lead at
intermission and Holy Cross would hold on from there. After
scoring a career-best 11 points in the team's opener against
Dartmouth, Bryant sophomore guard Lekia Cowen tallied 12 points
Wednesday night. Cowen was 2-for-3 from beyond the arc and
made 4-of-5 from the free throw line. Bennett picked up her
first double-double of the season with 10 points and 13 rebounds -
12 of which came on the offensive end. Bryant shot just 38.9
percent from the floor in the game and turned the ball over 28
times but did hold a 46 to 32 rebounding advantage against the
Crusaders.
LOOKING AT THE LEOPARDS FROM LAFAYETTE
Lafayette shot just 18 percent from the floor in falling on the at
Fairfield Wednesday night, 52-29. Melissa Downey and Alicia
Manning each had six point to pace the visiting Leopards who were
outrebounded 55 to 35 in the game. Lafayette has been
out-rebounded in all three games this season. The lone win came
last week on the road at NEC member Monmouth, 58-55.
LAFAYETTE DOWNS BULLDOGS IN LAST YEAR'S
MEETING
In the first-ever meeting between the two schools last season,
Bryant led 30-27 at the half but couldn't hold on as Lafayette's
LaKeisha Wright scored 19 points and Elizabeth Virgin had 14 points
and 12 rebounds to pace the host Leopards to a 64-57 win over the
Bulldogs in Easton, Pa. Cara Johnson had 17 for Bryant which
shot 30 percent from the floor and turned the ball over 23 times.
Kristin Mraz, Siamone Bennett and Kelsey O'Keefe each had eight
points for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs return to action this Tuesday hosting Brown University
at 7 pm.
