WOMEN'S SWIMMING IN SIXTH AFTER DAY

NEW HAVEN, CONN. - The Bryant University women's swim team
picked up 50 points on the first day of the Northeast Conference
Championship meet, putting them in sixth place with two days of
competition remaining. Central Connecticut stands in first place
with 192 points after winning four events on the first day.
The Bulldogs took home two fourth place finishes in the 200 yard
freestyle relay and the 400 yard medley relay, accounting for 44 of
their 50 points. The team of Jill Squillante, Dayna Konko, Lisa
Zanchi and Amy D'Olympia finished with a time of 1:41.37, beating
out Mount St. Mary's, St. Francis (NY) and Sacred Heart in the 200
freestyle relay. Squillante, Zanchi, D'Olympia and Abby Whittaker
topped the same three teams in the 400 medley relay, touching the
wall with a time of 4:10.33.
D'Olympia also scored points for the squad in the 50 freestyle,
swimming a 25.52 to finish in 11th place and tally two
points. Whittaker and Jess Looney combined for four more points in
the 200 individual medley, as Whittaker grabbed three points by
finishing 10th with a time of 2:16.26, and Looney came
in 12th with a 2:19.74 to score one point.
Bryant continues competition on Friday as they participate in
their first ever NEC Championship.
