BULLDOGS JUMP TO FIFTH AFTER TWO
DAYS OF COMPETITION AT NEC CHAMPIONSHIPS

NEW HAVEN, CONN. - The Bulldogs jumped up one spot to fifth
place after collecting 76 points during day two of the Northeast
Conference Championships in New Haven on Friday, giving them a two
day total of 126 points. Central Connecticut remains in first place
with 365 points, followed by Wagner in second with 347.
Once again the Bulldogs had solid performances from their relay
teams, as the team of Jill Squillante, Lisa Zanchi, Abby Whittaker
and Dayna Konko placed fifth in the 200 medley relay with a time
and 1:54.14 to register 22 points, and the 800 freestyle relay team
of Whittaker, Amy Howell, Amy D'Olympia and Konko finished sixth
with a time of 8:06.61 to gain 20 points.
Squillante posted the highest finish yet for a Bulldog at the
Championships, taking down fourth place in the 100 backstroke as
she came in with a time of 1:01.04 to pick up 11 points, while
Konko finished in eighth to grab five more points.
Three different Bulldogs scored points in the 100 butterfly, as
Whittaker led the pack with a seventh place finish, touching the
wall in 1:00.61. Behind her were Zanchi in tenth and Sarah Drew in
12th, scoring three points and one point respectively.
Zanchi and Allison Schaab placed in the points in the 100 yard
breaststroke, as Zanchi swam a 1:13.65 to score four points and
finish ninth, while Schaab grabbed one point with her
12th place finish.
The Bulldogs will conclude their first ever Northeast Conference
Championship meet on Saturday.
