BRYANT WOMEN'S LACROSSE FALLS TO LOUISVILLE 16-6 FRIDAY IN
SEASON OPENER
BOX SCORE
SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Bryant University senior Delia
Glover (Marston Mills, MA) scored four times but it was
not enough as visiting University of Louisville raced out to a
quick lead and never looked back in downing the Bulldogs 16-6 in
the season-opener for both teams Friday afternoon at the Bryant
Turf Complex.
Louisville (1-0) got four goals from Sammy Allen (Silver
Spring, MD) and three from Lianne Bobal
(Annandale, NJ), Bergan Foley (Huntingdon Valley,
PA) and Liz Lovejoy (Greenwich, CT) in
the win. The Cardinals, picked to finish sixth in the Big
East Conference this season, raced took control of things right off
the opening draw. Allen got things started for the visitors
scoring just 30 seconds into the contest while Bobal quickly made
it 2-0 just 11 seconds later scoring unassisted.
The lead would grow to 6-0 before Glover took a feed from
Allison Faiola (Billerica, MA) and one-timed a
shot past Cardinals goalie Jen Heup (Davidsonville,
MD) to put the Bulldogs on the board with 18:25 left in
the first half.
Louisville would answer with five unanswered goals before
Mary Green (Merrick, NY) netted her first career
tally with just over a minute left for the half to make it 11-2
Louisville at the break.
Bryant (0-1) goalie Jessica Bolton (Belgrade Lakes,
ME) made 17 saves in net for the Bulldogs as Bryant was
out-shot in the game, 44 to 16.
The Bulldogs will travel to Durham, NH Sunday to face the
University of New Hampshire, ranked 14th nationally, in a 1 pm
game. Louisville will travel to Manhattan Sunday for a
noon game before returning home for five straight starting with
Villanova on March 6.
