MEN'S SWIMMING IN 15TH, WOMEN IN
22ND AFTER DAY ONE AT ECAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

CAMBRIDGE, MASS. - A pair of thirteenth place finishes in the
200 and 400 freestyle relays gave the Bryant men's team 16 points
in the first day of the ECAC Championships at Harvard University on
Friday. The women registered four points with a 15th
place finish in the 200 freestyle relay, putting them in
22nd.
Kevin McDonald, Tom Ferrigno, Steven Nguyen and
Ray Savner teamed up early in the day to swim a
1:27.06 in the 200 freestyle relay, beating out Brandeis, Fairfield
and Canisius the take their first of two 13th place
finishes. McDonald and Ferrigno were also involved in the
400 medley relay, this time joined by Sean
Martell and Zach Bowen to swim a 3:34.94.
The Bulldogs are ahead of Canisius, Brandeis, Adelphi and College
of Staten Island in team points after the first day. In individual
events, Nguyen was 21st in the 500 freestyle prelims,
swimming a 4:45.56 while Savner was 40th in the 50
freestyle, touching the wall in 22.10 seconds.
The women scored all four of their points in the 200 freestyle
relay, finishing in 15th as Dayna Konko, Amy
D'Olympia, Lisa Zanchi and Jill
Squillante finished with a time of 1:43.85. Junior
Jess Looney competed in the 500 freestyle
individual event, coming in 33rd in the prelims with a
time of 5:18.32.
Both teams continue competition Saturday at Harvard, with the
championships concluding on Sunday.
