BRYANT WOMEN'S LACROSSE FALLS TO VILLANOVA 23-16

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Bryant freshman Mary Green (Merrick,
NY) scored four goals and added two assists but visiting
Villanova pulled away in the second half for a 23-16 win over the
Bulldogs on Senior Day Saturday. Bryant ends its first season
competing in Division I with a 3-12 record while Villanova
concludes its year at 8-8.
Green, who is also a member of the Bryant women's soccer team in
the fall, finishes the season third on the team with 29
goals. Against the Wildcats Sunday, she helped get the
Bulldogs off and running quickly, scoring just 29 seconds in the
game on a free position shot to put the Bulldogs up 1-0.
After Villanova tied the team a minute later, Bryant freshman
Lauren Sheridan (Bethpage, NY) put the Bulldogs
back on top 2-1 with a free position goal of her own 1:58 into the
game.
Villanova, which got five goals from Erica Rybinski and four
from Taylor Lucy, would score three-straight - including two by
Lucy, to put the Wildcats in front 4-2. Villanova would push
the lead to 8-5 before three straight goals helped Bryant tie it up
8-8 with 8:29 left to go in the half.
Senior Delia Glover (Marston Mills, MA), who
was honored prior to the start of the game along with senior
Lauren Albert (South Windsor, CT) and
Victoria Russell (Southborough, MA), was a
factor in all three goals that helped the Bulldogs draw even -
scoring once and assisting on the other two. Villanova took a 10-9
lead into the break but a five-goal outburst by the Wildcats midway
through the second put the game away.
Glover finishes her career at Bryant tied for third all-time
with 148 career goals and third all-time with 185 career
points. As a senior in 2009, Glover led the Bulldogs with 41
goals and had 12 assists.
