BRYANT MEN'S TENNIS PUTS FORTH STRONG SHOWING AT
STONY BROOK INVITATIONAL OVER WEEKEND
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Freshman Vidith Huot
(Providence, R.I.) advanced to the final round of the
singles flight D bracket and a pair of veteran teams turned in
strong performances in doubles play as the Bryant University men's
tennis team competed at the 2nd Annual Stony Brook Invitational
over the weekend.
After picking up wins over players from Bowdoin and Stony
Brook in the early stages of flight D, Huot knocked off
Middlebury's Johann Riefkohl, 6-1, 6-4, before falling in the final
round to Concordia's Tamas Dobrotka, 5-7, 6-2, 10-3, in a tightly
contested battle. Freshman Dana Parziale
(Pinehurst, N.C.) picked up the other win for the Bulldogs
at singles play, defeating Dane Ostilly of Concordia, 8-3, in
flight B.

In doubles action, the Bulldogs had a pair of tandems win their
respective opening matches in the Flight A bracket. The team of
Juan-Martin
Paredes (Quito, Ecuador) and Cristian
Balestrieri (Mar Del Plata, Argentina) downed
Middlebury, 8-6, while the duo of Nicholai Hill
(Ottawa, Ontario) and Hart Callahan
(Haverford, Pa.) defeated a squad from Sacred Heart.
In flight B doubles, Huot picked up another victory, this time
teaming up with Daniel Cournoyer
(Jefferson, Mass.) to beat a tandem from NYIT.
The Black and Gold return to the action on Saturday, Oct. 16
when they take on Boston University at home.
