WOMEN'S SWIMMING FALLS TO MAINE FRIDAY NIGHT

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Sophomore Casey Ostrander (Yarmouthport, Mass.) and freshman Taylor DeBever (Denver, Colo.) each captured three events but it was not enough to hold off the visiting Black Bears as the Bryant University women's swim team fell to Maine, 154-108, at the Chace Athletic Center Friday night.
Ostrander captured the first of her three wins in the 200-yard back as she touched the wall in a time of 58.87 to beat Maine's Alicia Hahn by three seconds. The sophomore would also earn top honors in the 50-yard free and the 100-yard free with times of 25.43 and 54.71, respectively.
The Bulldog women saw a pool record fall in the 200-yard back as DeBever continued her impressive rookie campaign with a time of 2:08.64 to break her own mark set last week against Wagner. She went on to claim two more top finishes on the night as she took the 500-yard free in 5:16.53 and the 200-yard free in 1:56.26.
Other notable finishers for the Bulldogs included freshmen Katelyn Kidney (Lynn, Mass.) and Kaitlin Buckley (Duxbury, Mass.), and sophomores Brianne Dwyer (Hicksville, N.Y.) and Molly Smith (Belmont, Mass.).
Kidney took home a second-place finish in the 200-yard fly with a time of 2:16.49 while Buckley swam the 100-yard fly in a time of 1:02.94 to earn a second-place finish. Dwyer and Smith each earned third-place finishes in the 100-yard and 200-yard breast, respectively.
The Bulldogs return to the pool on Nov. 5 when they take on Central Connecticut at home.
