BRYANT MEN'S TENNIS DEFEATS RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's
tennis team opened Saturday's match with Rhode Island College
by winning the doubles point and finished strong in singles play,
sweeping all six in straight sets as the Bulldogs earned a 7-0 win
over the visiting Anchormen on a chilly afternoon at the Bryant
Tennis Complex.
Bryant (6-7), who will play host to Northeast Conference
favorite Quinnipiac Sunday starting at noon, looked sharp in seeing
its first action on the outdoor courts in nearly 10 days since the
spring break trip to South Carolina. Juan-Martin
Paredes (Quito, Ecuador) got things started with a 6-0,
6-0 win over RIC's Tigran Gasparyan at No. 1 singles while
Nicholai Hill (Ottawa, Ontario) battled hard
against Pawtucket, R.I. native and Tolman High School graduate Nate
Rebello before coming out on top 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.
Daniel Cournoyer (Jefferson, Mass.) fought hard
to down Garrett Smith 7-5 in the opening set at No. 4 singles but
the Bulldog sophomore cruised in the second set, winning 6-2.
Freshman Elias McQuade (Manchester, N.H.) made his
debut at No. 5 singles this season and picked up a nice win over
Matt Allard, 6-0, 6-3 while Paul Chapman (Orange,
Conn.) was solid at No. 6 singles, defeated Jack Adamo,
6-1, 6-2.
