SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's swimming team cruised past Sacred Heart University 132.00-72.00 Wednesday night, en route to the team's second-straight victory over a Northeast Conference opponent. Bryant captured eight out of the eleven events and had five different swimmers claim a top spot.
Taylor DeBever (Denver, Colo.), no stranger to first place, recorded a top-time of 2:14.07 in the 200-yard individual medley. The Colorado native also claimed gold in the 200-yard backstroke with a 2:09.64 mark and joined forces with Amy D'Olympia (Mattapoisett, Mass.), Kim Carballeria (East Setauket, N.Y.) and Kaitlin Buckley (Duxbury, Mass.) to win the 200-yard freestyle relay with a 1:43.23 mark.
Molly Smith (Belmont, Mass.), Buckley, and Carballeira also took home individual first-place finishes to go along with sophomore Casey Ostrander's (Yarmouthport, Mass.) strong showing. Ostrander swept the field in the 100-yard freestyle with a 53.63 mark and teamed up with Brianne Dwyer (Hicksville, N.Y.), Abby Whittaker (Salisbury, Mass.) and D'Olympia to touch the wall first in the 200-yard medley relay with a 1:52.66 mark.
The Bulldogs are back in the water Saturday for a 1 p.m. home meet against Stony Brook. Saturday's meet marks senior day, as the Bulldogs will bid farewell to four swimmers.
