SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's tennis team opened spring competition Saturday with a 6-1 loss to Buffalo at the Rally Point Racquet Club in Greenville, R.I.  Freshman Dana Parziale (Pinehurst, N.C.), who was named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week twice during the fall, claimed the only point for Bryant at the third spot.   

After Buffalo started with a sweep at doubles, Parziale picked up the lone point for the Bulldogs as the freshman earned a grueling 7-6(2), 6-4 victory over Marcelo Mazzetto at No. 3 singles.

In other singles action, number one Christian Balestrieri (Mar Del Plata, Argentina) fell to Wojciech Starakiewicz, 6-1, 6-1, while Hart Callahan (Haverford, Pa.) dropped to George Tibil, 6-3, 6-3 at the second spot.

The Black and Gold return to the courts on Saturday, Feb. 5 when they face Colgate at 5:00 p.m. at the Rally Point Racquet Club.
