SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's tennis team saw its two-match win streak come to an end Saturday with a 7-0 loss on the road at the U.S. Naval Academy.
Bryant, now 8-9 on the year, dropped the doubles point to open the match. Despite three competitive matches, the Bulldogs were unable to get past the Middies as Navy led the match 1-0 heading into singles play.
In the singles, the Bulldogs dropped all six matches but got strong efforts from sophomore Lucy Bird who took the opening set, 6-4 against Navy's Emani Decquir. But Bird dropped the second by a score of 6-4 and came up just short in the third-set tiebreaker, falling 10-8.
At No. 6 singles, Irma Rodriguez-Lockwood fell to Brittney Boucher, 6-2, 7-6.
