SMITHFIELD, R.I. – One the heels of strong doubles play, the Bryant University women's tennis team earned a convincing 7-2 victory over Connecticut College Wednesday afternoon in New London, Conn.

Improving to 2-0 early on in the fall season, the Bulldogs were dominant Wednesday on the road against Division III Connecticut College.

Freshman Briana Leonard (Westford, Mass.) and sophomore Jovana Hadzi-Tanovic (Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro) got things started with a shutout over Susanna Studwell and Adreinne Sieverding at no. 1 doubles, 8-0. Jenna LaBarre (Smithfield, R.I.) and Lyan Juarbe (Gurabo, Puerto Rico) and Mariah Korn (Tiverton, R.I.) and Anya Wisener (Burlington, Vt.) were also strong, picking up wins at no.2 and no. 3 doubles, respectively.

In singles action, Leonard was again explosive, topping Charlotte Marcoux in the top spot, 6-1, 6-1, not to be outdone by Hadzi-Tanovic, who defeated Sieverding again, 6-0, 6-4, at no. 2 singles. LaBarre and Juarbe closed wrapped up the day for the Bulldogs with a couple of wins at no. 3 and 4 singles, respectively, to solidify the 7-2 W for Bryant.

The Black and Gold will get back to tournament action this weekend with a trip to West Point, N.Y. for the Army Invitational (Fri. – Sun.).
