Bulldogs set two meet records on day one of Harold Anderson

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's swimming and diving team set meet records in the 400 medley relay and the 200 free relay on Friday night at the Harold Anderson Invitational.

The Bulldogs used their two relays to put forth an outstanding effort on the first night of the invitational. The meet will continue on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.

Bryant enjoyed a record performance from its two relay teams on Friday night. First, the 400 medley relay team of Colin Curtin (Wethersfield, Conn.), Graham Beck (Danvers, Mass.), Joshua Bjornberg (Wallingford, Conn.) and Ben Schulte (Mermaid Beach, Australia) exploded with a time of 3:30.02 to win the first relay of the night. The time was four seconds faster than the second-place team.

The Black and Gold wrapped up the first night of competition with outstanding performance in the 200 free relay. Schulte, George Sommerville (Pittsfield, Mass.), Zachary Hannon (Marlborough, Mass.) and Pierre Le Guyader (East Islip, N.Y.) combined to win the event with a meet-record time of 1:26.60.

The Bulldogs also excelled in several individual events on the evening. Curtin followed up his strong performance in the relays with an excellent performance in the 500, finishing fourth with a time of 4:56.41.

Bryant also received a brilliant performance from Andrew Neggia (Ramsey, N.J.) in the 200 IM. Neggia finished third with a time of 2:03.02. Le Guyader also excelled, finishing second with a time of 21.83. His time was just four hundredths of a second off the leaders. Hannon and Sommerville finished third and fourth in the event.

The Bulldogs also got two strong performances in the 3 meter dive as Ian Miller (Meriden, Conn.) and Adam Gauthier (Middletown, Conn.) finished 2-3. Miller finished with 203.20 points and Gauthier had 186.40 points.
