ON TAP AT THE CHACE ATHLETIC CENTER
The Bryant University women's basketball team will welcome Wagner to Smithfield Monday night at 7 p.m. looking to win back-to-back games for the first time in nearly a month. Monday will mark the final regular season showdown between the two schools.
SERIES HISTORY
Monday marks the 9th meeting between the two schools with Bryant boasting a perfect 8-0 mark dating back to the 2008-09 season against Wagner.
Earlier this season, the Bulldogs picked up a convincing 80-63 win in Staten Island, N.Y., thanks to a pair of double-double efforts from senior Courtney Schissler and sophomore Breanna Rucker. Four Bryant players scored in double figures, with the starters combing for 71 of Bryant's 80 total points.
SCOUTING THE SEAHAWKS
Wagner enters Monday's game with 5-17 overall record, 4-7 in the Northeast Conference good for seventh place. After a tough start to the 2013-14 regular season, the Seahawks have picked up some quality wins during league play including a dominant 67-51 victory over NEC-leading Robert Morris on Feb. 3. Most recently however, Wagner dropped a tough one at Fairleigh Dickinson, 82-70, Saturday afternoon.
The Seahawks are led by the two-headed monster of sophomore Jordyn Peck (19.3 ppg) and freshman Jasmine Nwajei (16.5 ppg) who combine to be the leading scoring tandem in the NEC. Ugo Nwaigwe leads her team on the glass with 9.0 rebounds per game to go along with 7 ppg, while Nwajei, the leading candidate for Rookie of the Year, is tops in assists with 4.3 per contest.
