Battle of the Bulldogs: Bryant takes on Yale on road Wednesday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's lacrosse team continues its month of road games Wednesday, heading to Reese Stadium in New Haven, Conn., to face the Yale Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m.

Bryant (3-1) is coming off a double overtime win against Manhattan College on Saturday, and Yale (3-0) won its last game against Dartmouth, 12-5, to its undefeated season alive. Bryant has fallen to Yale by only one goal in each of the last two seasons, 11-10 and 14-13, respectively, and will go for the victory third time around.

Bryant is led by a strong senior class including midfielder Lisa Vendel (Sandy Hook, Conn.), who scored the game-tying and game-winning goals in Saturday's victory over the Jaspers and currently has 12 draw controls on the year. Senior Haley Bloom (Hauppauge, N.Y.) leads the team with 12 points, while seniors Olivia McCarthy (Sea Girt, N.J.)Kimberly Sniffen (Redding, Conn.) and Katherine Keckeisen (Danbury, Conn.) all found the back of the net last outing.

Senior goalkeeper Brianna Watt (Babylon, N.Y.) is averaging 9.72 goals per game with a save percentage of .432 between the pipes for the Black and Gold. Top goal scorer sophomore Lauren Descalzo (Hauppauge, N.Y.) has nine goals on the season while classmate Nicole Britton (Monmouth Beach, N.J.) has also had an impressive first three games.

Sophomore attacker Nicole Daniggelis is the lead scorer for Yale with eight goals on the season and is ranked third in the nation for draw controls, averaging 10.33 per game. Yale's defense is currently ranked sixth in the country and is anchored by senior goalkeeper Erin McMullen, who has averaged only 6.00 per game. Both Daniggelis and McMullen were recently named Ivy League Co-Offensive Player and Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.
