ON TAP AT THE CHACE ATHLETIC CENTER

The Bryant University women's basketball team will welcome #5 St. Francis Brooklyn for a Northeast Conference Tournament Quarterfinal matchup, Sunday evening at 6 p.m. at the Chace Athletic Center in Smithfield, R.I.

Sunday marks the first time in Bryant women's basketball history that the Bulldogs will host a Division I postseason game.

SERIES HISTORY

Sunday marksn the 11th meeting between Bryant and St. Francis Brooklyn dating back to the Bulldog's first year of Division I play in 2008-09. Despite a pair of competitive contests this season, the Black and Gold hold a 9-1 all-time series lead over the Terriers, winning both matchups this season.

In the first game earlier this season, the Bulldogs squeaked out a 61-58 victory in Smithfield, despite shooting just .293 percent from the field. In the rematch just over one week ago, senior Steph Cardamone knocked down a career-high four 3-pointers to lift Bryant to a 63-58 victory in Brooklyn.

SCOUTING THE TERRIERS

St. Francis Brooklyn enters Sunday's NEC Quarterfinal contest with an impressive 19-10 overall record (tops in the league), most recently coming off a 66-50 victory vs. LIU Brooklyn Monday night. Finishing conference play with a 10-8 mark, the Terriers have won three of their last four games, with their only loss in the last two weeks coming at the hands of the Bulldogs (March 1).

St. Francis has used essentially the same starting lineup the entire season, led by junior guard Eilidh Simpson who averages a team-high 14.5 pongs per game. Classmate Sarah Benedetti ranks second on the team with 11.4 ppg off the bench while Jaymee Veney rounds out the double-digit scorers with 10.7 ppg and a team-high 6.8 rebounds per game. Five players average more than two assists per game and seven Terriers see more than 20 minutes of action per contest. St. Francis Brooklyn will be forced to play outside of the Pope Physical Education Center for the first time since Feb. 17 when they visit Smithfield on Sunday.
