Box Score SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Despite a match-high 10 kills from senior captain Elena Lohr (Loveland, Ohio), the Bryant University volleyball team fell to Dartmouth, 3-0, Tuesday night on the road.
The senior outside hitter added the only ace for the Bulldogs (3-15), who got four more kills along with a team-best two blocks from rookie Alexandra Lunsford (Minneola, Fla.). Redshirt-freshman Vika Nesterov (Kfar Saba, Israel) also chipped in four kills with 21 assists and five digs. Junior libero Debora Magalhaes (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) paced the defense, tying a match best with 13 digs.
Paige Caridi tied that defensive mark for the Big Green (9-2), while Julia Lau picked up 11 digs and Stacey Benton registered the only double-double of the night with 10 digs and a match-high 28 assists. Molly Kronfeind and Kaira Lujan topped the Dartmouth side offensively with eight kills apiece, while Lottie MacAulay and Emily Astarita added seven more each in the 25-14, 25-14, 25-20 victory. MacAulay led the match at the net with three blocks (1 solo).
The Bulldogs open up Northeast Conference action in their next match, traveling to New Britain, Conn., to take on Central Connecticut State University on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
