Bryant Ultimate Frisbee Takes First at Lobster Pot

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Maine Ultimate hosted its annual Lobster Pot tournament on October 24th and 25th. Bryant came into the tournament ranked #1 in Pool B of the Men's Division 1. The first game on Saturday was against the 5th seeded UMaine. It turned out to be a close game, Bryant eventually coming away with a 13-10 win.

The next match-up was against Middlebury, where Bryant also came out on top 13-10. After these two point-for-point games, Bryant stepped up to beat Syracuse 13-5, while also sitting many of their starters to rest up for a final match-up against Bowdoin. Anticipating that it would be a tough match-up, Bryant came out full force in the final match of the day. Bryant went a phenomenal 13-0 against Bowdoin, ending the day 4-0; the only team in Men's Division 1 to go undefeated.

This paired them up against Brandeis for their first game on Sunday. Brandeis, a team Bryant was unable to beat the following year, fell short as Bryant brought their A-game and beat them 15-4. The championship game then came down to Bryant against Bentley. The first half of the game was a nail-biter, Bryant only pulling ahead to 8-6 at halftime. The second half of the game, however, Bryant was able to shut down their strong offense with an even stronger man-defense, winning 15-9.

With morale high, Bryant took the championship to end off their final tournament of the fall season. With the semester coming to a close and spring season right around the corner, Bryant Ultimate will be working as hard as ever to continue their winning streak and prove that they are the team to beat in 2016.
