SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's swimming and diving team took home four first-place finishes but it wasn't enough on Saturday as they fell to the University of Massachusetts at the Chace Athletic Center Pool.
Sophomore Colin Curtin (Wethersfield, Conn.) took home the first title of the day as he won the 100 back with a time of 53.75. Ben Schulte (Tumon, Guam) and Tavish Boyle (Springfield, N.J.) then battled it out to claim the last three first-place finishes. Schulte edged out Boyle in the 100 breast and the 200 IM, while Boyle squeaked past Schulte in the 200 breast.
In addition, Charlie Broe (New Windsor, N.Y.) and Boris Paraliticci (Saunderstown, R.I.) had a strong meet. Broe finished second in the 1000 free and Paraliticci placed second in the 100 free. Curtin added a second-place finish in the 500 free to his afternoon.
The Bulldogs return to the pool on Saturday, Jan. 23 when they visit Boston University.
