SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's tennis team traveled to Penn over the weekend to face the best talent in the Northeast at the Regional ITAs, where the Bulldogs finished 2-11 overall.
Redshirt sophomore Matt Kuhar (Smithfield, R.I.) was the lone Bulldog to be placed in the singles main draw, earning a bye in the round of 128. Kuhar faced off against Army's Sam Lampman in the round of 64, defeating the senior, 6-1, 7-5. He went on to play Columbia's Shawn Hadavi, who beat Kuhar, 6-2, 7-5, in the round of 32.
Bryant's only other win came in the singles consolation, when junior Luke Lorenz (Colorado Springs, Colo.) overcame Cornell's Joe McAllister, 7-5, 6-3.
"I felt we did some things well," said head coach Ron Gendron. "We didn't have the results we were hoping for, but that's why you play."
