SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's tennis team had a very successful Columbus Day Weekend, as the team went a combined 30-11, including a 21-8 finish at the West Point Invitational and 9-3 mark at Bryant's own invitational, where the Bulldogs hosted Bentley and RPI.

Freshman Jorge Isaias Ortiz-Garcia (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) had the Bulldogs' best outing in West Point, going a perfect 6-0 in singles and doubles play. The rookie went 2-0 at No. 3 doubles and 1-0 at No. 2 doubles with classmate partner Andrew Quiros (Pembroke Pines, Fla.). Ortiz-Garcia finished 2-0 at No. 6 singles and 1-0 at No. 5.

As a team, the Bulldogs swept Sacred Heart in all nine matchups, while going 5-4 against Army and 7-4 against Stony Brook.

At the Bryant Invitational, the Bulldogs finished 9-3 overall, outplaying Bentley to a 5-1 finish, while weather allowed only doubles play against RPI, where the Engineers finished 2-1 over the Black and Gold.

Senior John Templeman (Midland, Mich.) went unbeaten in Smithfield, including a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Bentley's Kendall Au at No. 5 singles and back-to-back No. 3 doubles wins with freshman partner Andrew Corrado (East Islip, N.Y.).
