FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Sophomore Skylar Simmonds buried a career-high of five goals and three assists to help the Bryant University women's lacrosse rally past Sacred Heart, 15-10, as the Bulldogs improve to a 4-5 mark in NEC play.

"I'm proud of the way the girls competed today. This was a good team win and I was happy to see us do our job on both sides of the ball."

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Sacred Heart got on the board first but the Bulldogs responded when Skylar Simmonds scored back-to-back goals to spark a 5-1 run to help Bryant take a three-goal lead.
  • The Pioneers would get three more goals in the first half, but the Bulldogs outscored Sacred Heart, 5-3, in the final 20 minutes.
  • Simmonds and Chamberlaine Bell opened the scoring in the second half but Sacred Heart answered with four unanswered goals to pull within three.
  • The Bulldogs put the nail in the coffin when they scored three-straight in the final ten minutes of the game to grow a six-goal cushion. Sacred Heart's Grace Reinold netted one last goal with 1:24 left to play, but it was too late for the Pioneers as the Bulldogs took the game, 15-10.

STATS/GAME NOTES

  • Simmonds led with a career-best five goals and three assists off seven shots on goal. The sophomore also tallied two groundballs and two draw controls.
  • Bell netted a career-high three goals, all of which were scored in the second half. She also posted one assist.
  • Senior Megan McCarthy led with a game-high six draw controls to go along with one goal, and one groundball.
  • Caitlin and Devon Bolen each tallied two goals and one groundball apiece. Devon Bolen also posted four draw controls and one caused turnover.
  • Emma Lindquist and Lily Auger each scored once.
  • Gabriella Henry caused one of Bryant's two caused turnovers.
  • Senior Giana Kapoosuzian stopped 11 during a full 60 minutes in goal. Kapoosuzian and Henry led the Black and Gold with three groundballs.
  • With today's win, the Bulldogs propel to a 4-5 conference record and currently tie with Saint Francis for the fourth spot in the NEC standings.
