CUMBERLAND, R.I.. -- The Bryant University men's tennis team opened Northeast Conference play with a pair of victories this weekend, defeating LIU and Mount St. Mary's at Fore Court.

Solid weekend. LIU is extremely talented and a great addition to men's tennis. Mount is always gritty and makes balls. Great opportunity for us to get a lot out of quality players starts. In addition, on a personal note, great to have Peter Kiss, NEC regular-season champion and one of college basketball's stars, make his way to cheer on our tennis programs.

I also want to congratulate Sara Gendron and the Bryant Swimming and Diving programs on their championships this weekend. Bryant Athletics is a special entity. Vamos Perros!

• Bryant claimed the doubles point with a 6-3 and 6-0 victories at No. 2 and No. 3.
• The Bulldogs clinched the match with four hard-fought singles victories. 
• Diego Serra Sparrow won in three sets, Teague Burger won in straight sets but needed a first-set tiebreak and Leonardo Mileikowsky won in three sets.
