Box Score BALTIMORE – Sherif Gross-Bullock scored a career-high 39 points but the Bryant University men's basketball team came up short against UMBC on Saturday, falling 76-73.
With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 16-9 overall and 7-5 in the America East. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak.
Gross-Bullock produced the third-highest scoring game in DI program history on 13-of-22 shooting from the field and a 7-of-11 mark from three. Earl Timberlake added his eighth double-double of the year with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Charles Pride had six points, six rebounds and four assists.

How it Happened
- Gross-Bullock had another strong start on Saturday, scoring 10 of Bryant's first 17 points. Bryant trailed 11-5 but scored 10 straight points to take a 13:36 left.
- Timberlake scored back-to-back baskets and SGB capped the run with a three.
- UMBC, however, was able to regroup and retake the lead for the remainder of the first half. A three from Jacob Boonyasith made it 26-19 with 6:26 left.
- The Retrievers then hit a three at the half buzzer to take a 40-33 lead to the break.
- UMBC pushed its lead to 10 early in the second half before Bryant responded with a 7-0 run to make it 45-42 with 16:43 left.
- The Retrievers would answer each of Bryant's runs, keeping a seven-point lead with under 10 minutes to go.
- Gross-Bullock then stroked a three from the top to start an 8-0 run that gave Bryant a 62-61 lead with 6:28 to go. SGB gave the Bulldogs the lead with a finish at the tin.
- UMBC would push its lead back to six before Gross-Bullock hit back-to-back threes to tie the game at 68 with 3:27 left.
- A pair of free throws would give UMBC a two-point lead and the Bulldogs made just 1-of-2 to make it a one-point game with 3:03 left.
- It would stay that way until the Retrievers turned a steal into free throws to take a 72-69 lead with 1:51 left.
- Bryant would add a pair of free throws but trailed 74-71 with under 30 seconds to go. The Bulldogs were able to grab a defensive rebound and looked to make it a one-point game but an injury to Kvonn Cramer as he attempted a layup led to a miss. The Retrievers were able to close the door from the line.
