Volleyball falls to Binghamton in five sets

SMITHFIELD, R.I.– The Bryant women's volleyball team fell to the Binghamton Bearcats in five sets on Friday night at the Chace Athletic Center. Bryant is now 18-7 on the year and are 4-3 in conference play.

"Tonight's match was a hard fought battle.  We made some costly unforced errors at key times which hurt us in the end."
HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Set 1-Bryant would get off to a fast start in the match; going on a 9-4 run to begin play. That early momentum would help power Bryant to a 25-22 win. Fabi Castro would have 7 kills in the opening set.She would also tally a pair of service aces.
  • Set 2- Binghamton would respond in the second set by getting out to an early 8-4 advantage. Bryant would try to mount a comeback but would fall short; dropping the set 25-19. Arianna Ugolini would get going in the set and finish with 5 kills.
  • Set 3- Binghamton would ride their momentum into the third set and get out to a commanding 7-1 lead and force a Bryant timeout. Coming out of the break the Bulldogs would close the gap, but Binghamton would go on to win 25-17 and go up 2-1
  • Set 4-Facing elimination, Bryant would show incredible resilience and stay alive thanks to an incredible offensive display by Arianna Ugolini, Fabi Castro and London Hunt. The trio would combine for 13 kills and help lead Bryant to a 25-22 set victory to force a fifth set.
  • Set 5-Binghamton would take early control of the fifth set and get out to a 6-1 lead. Bryant would battle back and get to within two however Binghamton would hold on and win the fifth and final set 15-10.

  • Five Bryant players would record double-doubles in tonight's match (C. Barron, M. Koeller, F. Castro, C. Camacho, A. Ugolini).
  • Arianna Ugolini would lead the Bulldogs offense with 20 kills.
  • Carolina Camacho would lead the team in assists with 22.
  • Carrina Barron would lead the defense with 17 kills
  • London Hunt would finish with a team high 3 blocks.

Bryant will be back in action on Sunday, November 3rd, when they will travel to take on the University of New Hampshire. First serve from Durham is set for 1:00 pm.
