Volleyball falls to UAlbany on Senior Day

SMITHFIELD, R.I.– The Bryant women's volleyball team dropped their season finale against UAlbany on Sunday by a score of 3-1.
With the loss, the Bulldogs are eliminated from the America East Tournament Bryant concludes the 2024 season at 18-10 overall and 4-6 in America East play.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Set 1- The Great Danes would open the afternoon with a 10-5 in the first set and would hold momentum for the majority of the frame. Bryant would put together some promising rallies and at one point tied the score at 13-13. However UAlbany would maintain a slight edge and close out the first set with a 25-22 victory. Aubrey LaPour and Fabi Castro would combine for 8 kills in the opening set for Bryant and Carolina Camacho would tally 6 assists. 
  • Set 2- Bryant would respond in a big way in the second set and would go on a remarkable 15-2 run to take a 21-12 lead over the Danes. Bryant would take care of business in the second set and win 25-18, tying the match at 1-1. Bryant's big three of Aubrey LaPour, Arianna Ugolini, and Fabi Castro would have a tremendous set for the BLack and Gold; tallying 12 kills. Madison Koeller would also shine in the second with 7 assists and a kill.
  • Set 3-The third set would see an intensely close battle between Albany and Bryant as both teams would exchange leads. Bryant would hold a three point lead in the middle of the set, but the Great Danes would make a comeback bid that saw them power their way to a 25-20 set win; taking a 2-1 lead. LaPour would continue to dominate in the match, adding another 5 kills in the frame.
  • Set 4- UAlbany would start off strong in the fourth set; opening on an 11-7 run. Bryant would manage to respond and take a late lead; getting to set point with the score 24-22. The Great Danes, however, fought back to extend the set and would eventually win the frame 27-25. LaPour would add 7 kills to her total in the final set. Ugolini would put away 5 balls as well.

  • Bryant finishes 0-2 in the regular season series with the Great Danes.
  • In her final match, Aubrey LaPour would shine and lead the Bulldogs with 20 kills.
  • Carolina Camacho (26) and Madison Koeller (20) would combine for 46 assists in the match.
  • Morgan Smith would tally a pair of blocks to go along with 3 kills.
  • Carrina Barron would lead the team with 12 digs on Sunday. 
MATCH NOTES
  • Aubrey LaPour concludes her historic tenure in Smithfield with 952 kills. She now ranks 5th all-time in Division I program history.
  • Carolina Camacho ends her Bulldog tenure as just the fifth player in Bryant Division I history to surpass 1,500 career assists.
  • Throughout four years donning the Black and Gold, Morgan Smith would tally over 200 career kills (227) and over 100 career blocks (121).
