SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Megan Marcel of the Bryant University softball team hit her third home run of the series in the Bulldogs 7-6 home victory against UAlbany to secure the series sweep and first place in the America East.

Alexis Clancy tallied two RBIs, and Makenna Coleman, Alexis Larrow, and Hannah Cochran recorded an RBI.

Brooke Tracy posted three strikeouts as the starter, and Kylie Kenney had a strikeout in the relief victory.

How it Happened

• Makenna Coleman was walked in the bottom of the first and advanced to third base on a groundout. Marcel then hit her third home run of the series to give the Black and Gold a 2-0 lead.
• In the top of the third inning UAlbany tied the game at two on an error and single in the top of the third inning (2-2).
• With two outs, McKenzie McAloon and Faith Valenzuela hit back-to-back singles, and then Alyssa Garabedian pinch-ran for Valenzuela, setting up Coleman, who hit a single. Garabedian then avoided the tag for the score (3-2) in the bottom of the fourth.
• The Great Danes took a two-run lead in the top of the fifth on a solo HR and a double (4-3).
• In the bottom of the fifth, Marcl was walked and pinch-ran for by Laniya Lewis. Larrow grounded out, moving Lewis to third, which led to a Cochran RBI double over the right fielder's glove (4-4).
• Valenzuela hit a one-out single, and Coleman was walked, putting runners on first and second. With two outs, Clancy hit a double to the gap, clearing the bases (6-4). The final run of the inning was scored off an RBI single through the right side (7-4) in the bottom of the sixth inning.
• UAlbany got within one run on a two-run bomb with two outs and then grounded out to short to secure the series sweep (7-6).
