Bulldogs beat UAlbany on Thursday night, Improve to 3-0 in AE play

ALBANY – Rafael Pinzon netted 22 points and Earl Timberlake had a near triple-double as the Bryant men's basketball team defeated the University at Albany, 89-79, on Thursday night at the Broadview Center.

With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 9-9 overall and 3-0 in the America East. Thursday marked Bryant's fifth straight win over the Great Danes since joining the league two years ago. Bryant returns to the court on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 18) when they host UMass Lowell.
 
Rafael Pinzon (22) and Earl Timberlake (21) would combine for 43 of Bryant's 89 points. Bryant would see five out of the seven players from tonight's game finish in double figures.
 
Pinzon paced the Black and Gold with 22 points 8-of-17 shooting from the field. He added five assists, three rebounds, and three steals. Timberlake (7-9 FG) logged a near triple-double with 21 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists. He would also have four blocks. Withers would go 4-7 from the field and 2-4 from three, tallying 16 points, seven boards, and three assists.

  • Bryant held a 9-2 advantage in blocks. Earl Timberlake would have four of the Bulldogs' rejections.
  • Timberlake would fight for an extra possession following a missed 3p attempt from Barry Evans. He would then connect with Connor Withers for a corner three to give Bryant a 48-39 lead to start the second half.

  • Connor Withers would drill a three to get the Bulldogs on the board following a score for UAlbany on the opening possession.
  • The Great Danes would lead by one heading into the first media timeout thanks to an early five points from Joshua Byron.
  • Connor Withers would find space and elevate a pass to connect with Earl Timberlake on an alley-oop to give the Bulldogs a 16-15 advantage heading into the under 12 media.

  • Timberlake would find Cramer in the paint for an easy floater keeping the Bulldogs out in front. 
  • The Great Danes would cut the lead to under 10 following a step back three from Klaczek. Bryant would call a timeout leading 76-67.
  • Connor Withers inbound the ball to Kvonn Cramer who would quickly switch it back to Withers. Withers would then deal the rock to Rafael Pinzon; he would find Cramer for an open dunk.
