The Black and Gold Take Down Marist

SMITHFIELD, RI -- The Bryant University men's swimming and diving team competed against Marist College Saturday at McCann Natatorium. The Black and Gold secured a victory through grit and tenacity, clinching the overall win with standout performances from Leo Luna and James Misto. The senior and sophomore pair each secured two victories in their respective events.

Notes and Notables:

In the 200 Yard Medley Relay, Bryant took second with a 1:34.91 (Lajoie, Austin, Djokovic, Misto).
In the 1000 Yard Freestyle, Leo Luna took first place yet again with a 9:42.07, followed by freshman Raymond Stelmark's third-place finish of 9:53.82.
Nick Andrews and Uros Djokovic finished second and third in the 200 Yard Freestyle (1:44.48, 1:45.47).
In the 100-yard backstroke, Lajoie and Toepfer went two-three with a 52.35 and 52.63.
Jack Ferguson finished third in the 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:00.54).
Tim Andrews and Andrew Gamper placed second and third in the 200 Butterfly with times of 1:56.67 and 1:57.95.
In the 50 Yard Freestyle, James Misto took first with a 21.19, followed by Lofstrom's third-place finish of 21.98.
In the 1 Meter Dive, Christopher Buonocore finished first with a 308.03, followed by Andrew Peterson's 234.68.
In the 100 Yard Freestyle, Conner Lofstrom and Nick Andrews went one-two with times of 47.66 and 47.73.
Nick Toepfer took second in the 200-yard Backstroke (1:54.76).
In the 500 Yard Freestyle, Leo Luna grabbed first with a 4:42.32, and Stelmark placed third with a 4:46.22.
Misto grabbed his second first-place finish of the night, clinching the top spot in the 100 Yard Butterfly to help the Bulldogs to victory (50.61).
In the 3 Meter Dive, Christopher Buonocore placed first with a 328.13.
To close out the meet, the Bulldogs claimed an electric victory in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay with a 3:07.92 (Lofstrom, Toepfer, Andrews, Misto).

Bryant's men's swimming and diving squad hits the road to compete against Boston University on January 25th.
